Man accused of walking away from traffic stop
The Moniteau County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man Wednesday after he reportedly walked away from a deputy during a traffic stop.
The incident happened Wednesday in California after the deputy pulled over a vehicle for a license plate and stop sign violation, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. Christopher Winter, 34, got out of the vehicle and started walking away despite the deputy’s orders to come back, according to the release.
The sheriff’s department said Winter kept walking and entered a post office, with the deputy following him. The deputy ordered him to leave the building and return to his vehicle, which Winter again refused to do, according to the release. The department said the deputy then struggled with Winter, who resisted arrest, before subduing him.
A search turned up drug paraphernalia and methamptemaine on Winter and a police dog found more drugs, a loaded handgun and a loaded shotgun in his vehicle, the sheriff’s department said.
Winter was booked into the Moniteau County Jail on a $35,000 bond for drug possession and resisting arrest.
