Wind Advisory Wednesday: Strong wind gusts expected

A Wind Advisory goes into effect at 10 AM Wednesday until 7 PM Wednesday due to strong winds gusts from the south as a cold front moves through Mid-Missouri. Southerly winds sustained at 20-30 mph are expected to gust as high as 50 mph at times.

Travel along east to west roadways will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles and trailers. Also, light to moderate rain will accompany the wind, keeping the ground wet which could cause some trees to uproot. Loose outdoor object should be secured or brought in to avoid them blowing around.

Winds will decrease slightly Wednesday night but we could still see gusts to 40 mph. The wind is expected to pick up again Thursday with gusts up to 50 mph as a deep area of low pressure passes to our north.
