Rain Tuesday night and Wednesday, strong wind gusts through Thursday
TONIGHT: Rain with embedded thunderstorms will move through the area through the evening, tapering off overnight. Rain will be more widespread south of HWY 50 with scattered lighter showers north. South winds at 15 mph will gust up to 30 mph at times overnight as temperatures hold steady, in the upper 40s to near 50.
WEDNESDAY: A Wind Advisory goes into effect starting at 10 AM as southerly winds increase to 20-30 mph, gusting as high as 50 mph at times.Showers and t-storms will increase from mid-morning through the afternoon from the west as a cold front moves in. No severe storms are expected but some pockets of moderate rain are possible. The rain moves out by early evening. Temperatures will reach into the lower 60s.
EXTENDED: The winds look to last through the night Wednesday across much of Thursday as well with gusts Wednesday night up to 40 mph, and up to 50 mph Thursday as a power storm system tracks to our north. Areas north of I-70 could see some showers Thursday but many areas will remain dry with high temperatures in the lower 50s. The storm system moves out by Friday, dropping temperatures back into the low to middle 40s. That quiet weather sticks around into the upcoming weekend with warming temperatures by Sunday, reaching the lower 50s for St. Patrick’s Day and mostly sunny skies this weekend.
