Man charged in Columbia baseball bat attack
One person was arrested and charged on Friday after he allegedly attacked at least two people in downtown Columbia with a baseball bat.
Said Shoune, 29, of Columbia, chased a victim through a restricted lot and front lawn at the Boone County courthouse Friday afternoon, according to court documents.
Shoune was also armed with a hunting knife at the time, court documents said.
Police had already been seeking Shoune for allegedly assaulting two other people with a baseball bat. According to officers on scene Friday, Shoune hit a woman with a baseball bat on Garth Avenue and Lynn Street. He then allegedly went to Wabash Bus Station where he hit a city employee in the head with the baseball bat, officers said.
Shoune was charged with second-degree assault and armed criminal action. He was also jailed on a warrant for first-degree assault with a $50,000 bond but had not been charged on that count Monday afternoon, according to Boone County Jail records.
He’s being held in the Boone County jail on a $50,000 bond.
