Early morning rains and evening winds led to dangerous… Parking conditions?
You read that right… You may want to think about where you park the next time we see widespread rains and strong gusty winds to follow. Scott Gray, from Eldon, Missouri shared this photo on Facebook this afternoon of a tree that fell on a car. This was likely due to the heavier rainfalls we saw earlier this morning followed by powerful winds this evening.

Following the rains, the soil becomes sort of like a soft play-doh or putty. The heavy weight of the tree will cause subtle shifts as the stump ever so slightly meanders in the now-pliable soil. If winds come through strong enough, it can cause the entire tree to uproot. It’s best to think about these situations ahead of time and to take all types of weather seriously. Even if winds don’t seem like a big deal, think of what can happen because of it.
