Columbia man accused of having USPS deliver weed to his home

A Columbia man was arrested and charged Tuesday after he allegedly tried to have USPS deliver a package containing marijuana to his home.

Law enforcement officials were notified of a suspicious package being sent from California and delivered to a residence in the 1500 block of Rolling Rock Drive in Columbia. The names on the package were fictitious names, according to a probable cause statement.

Detectives saw Sean R. Boyd drive away from the residence and pulled him over because of a window tint violations, court documents said. Detectives smelled marijuana in the car, and after a search, they found 33 grams of marijuana.

The package being delivered to the residence had a quarter pound of marijuana in it.

Police searched Boyd’s home and also found $4,700, plastic baggies, 10 pre-wrapped marijuana blunts and a handgun.

Boyd was charged with delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon.
