No students hurt in crash at Providence Road, I-70

Two Columbia Public Schools buses were involved in a crash on Providence Road at Interstate 70 on Wednesday afternoon but no students were injured.

Two students were riding on each bus, CPS spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark said.

The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. and delayed traffic at the busy interchange. A silver SUV and a bus were towed from the scene and first responders had to clear debris from the road and put down materials to soak up liquids.

It wasn’t clear how if any non-students were injured, but an ABC 17 News photographer saw a person being loaded onto a stretcher and at least two ambulances were at the scene.

The Columbia Police Department did not respond to an email seeking more information.
