Man sentenced for role in high-speed chase, shooting

A federal judge sentenced a Fulton man to prison on Tuesday for shooting at officers and other drivers during a high-speed pursuit.

Russell Moore, 28, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison without parole.

Moore pleaded guilty in December to two counts of destruction of a motor vehicle, one count of being a felon in possession of a gun and one count of knowingly possessing a stolen gun.

Moore was indicted in April 2016 after deputies were dispatched to a Boone County home for reports of a stolen Jeep. The next day, the stolen Jeep was spotted in the parking lot of Midway Travel Center and a pursuit began. Authorities said a woman was driving and Moore was a passenger. During the chase, Moore fired at law enforcement and tractor-trailers on Interstate 70 East, nearly striking one of the drivers, investigators said.

The pursuit ended after the Jeep ran out of gas on County Road 172 in Callaway County.
