Another frosty evening overnight– don’t put away the heavy coat yet! Slow warm up midweek.
TONIGHT: We’ll see mostly clear skies through the overnight hours as high pressure settles into place over MidMO. It’s another nasty cold night across the region as we drop back into the single digits. Westerly breezes keep wind chills below zero through the morning hours.
TUESDAY: Make sure you’re bundled up out the door in the morning. We start off near 8* with wind chills close to -5*. A warmer day is in store for Tuesday, unfortunately through the late morning and early afternoon it will be breezy. Winds will be sustained at 12-18 mph gusting to 26 at times. Wind chills will be in the single digits and teens all day tomorrow, under a few clouds.
EXTENDED: The polar jet which has crashed south will slowly begin retreating throughout the week. By Wednesday highs are back above freezing, with temperatures near 40 on Thursday. Our next chance at precipitation arrives on Thursday. Late Thursday morning rain and snow chance arrives with an upper level disturbance moving through the area. North of I-70, we see a slight snow chance, but accumulation would be light. As you head south snow makes the changeover to rain. We’re looking dry Friday, but a potent upper level trough will track into the area into the weekend. This could increase rain and thunderstorm chances for Saturday.
