JCPS warns parents of social media threats
Jefferson City Public Schools said officials notified parents Thursday morning of social media threats made by a Jefferson City High School student on Wednesday.
JCPS worked with the Jefferson City Police Department and detained the student immediately after initial reports of the threats came in on Wednesday. JCPS is currently investigating the threats, and it was determined there was no immediate danger to student safety.
The student who made the threat was not at school on Thursday.
“Upon conclusion of the law enforcement investigation, appropriate administrative action will be taken,” JCPS administrators said in a statement sent out to parents.
