Winter returns into the weekend, Snow chances increasing for Saturday night, Sunday
***WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FROM 6PM TONIGHT UNTIL 12 PM TOMORROW FOR BENTON, MORGAN, CAMDEN, MARIES, PULASKI, MILLER, AND PHELPS COUNTIES***
THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly Cloudy skies will continue into this evening as temperatures struggle to climb into the 30s. A slow moving cold front is draped across the center of our viewing area and is slowly but surely being kicked eastward. We’re continuing to track a weak bubble of low pressure skirting across the southern plains. Already many reports of slick spots west of HWY 65– chances at sleet and freezing drizzle will increase this evening and last through the overnight hours.
TONIGHT: A light wintry mix will increase through 8pm and last overnight. Locations along and south of HWY 50 have the best chance of sleet and freezing drizzle through 3am before switching over to light snow/flurries through the morning hours. Impacts on the road ways are possible through the Thursday morning commute. Give yourself some extra time out the door in the morning.
EXTENDED: Thursday looks to be another breezy day with temperatures in the low 30s. Clouds stick around and help suppress temperatures in the afternoon. We’ll watch a warm front lift north Thursday evening and that will lead to mostly cloudy skies sticking around Friday, but with slightly warmer temperatures in the low 40s by the afternoon. We’re tracking a few waves of low pressure into the weekend. The first arrives Saturday which could bring some light snow showers along and south of I-70. A second, more powerful wave arrives to Mid-MO by the early morning hours Sunday, this storm is showing increasing chances for widespread accumulating snows into Sunday afternoon.
