Next round of wintry precipitation moving in this evening
***WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT TONIGHT UNTIL 12 PM TOMORROW FOR CAMDEN, MARIES, PULASKI, MILLER, AND PHELPS COUNTIES***
TONIGHT: Our next round of winter weather moves in tonight. We’ll see a light wintry mix moving in as early as this evening, lasting through the morning hours on Thursday. Areas along and south of HWY 50 have the best chance of seeing impacts to the roadways for the morning commute. Temperatures overnight will drop into the mid to upper teens in the northern half of the viewing area, and low to mid 20s south of I-70.
THURSDAY: Build in some extra time for the morning commute as that wintry mix will linger into the morning hours on Thursday before moving east by the afternoon. When this system moves out, we could be looking at a glaze to 0.15″ of ice in our southern counties. Clouds will be filtering out of the region in the afternoon, but temperatures will still be cold, only topping out near the freezing mark.
EXTENDED: We’re tracking a warm front that looks to move through for Friday. It will bring temperatures up to the low to mid 40s, but also mostly cloudy skies for most of the day. Our next chance at winter weather moves in this weekend. A front will cool temperatures down for Saturday, and in the wake of cooler air, a few disturbances will moves through Mid-Missouri. Latest model data is suggesting that we’ll be looking at a widespread accumulating snowfall event Saturday night and into Sunday. It is still a bit too early to to start pinning down specific amounts, but we’ll continue to track this system as we get closer.
