Tracking rainfall and mild temps to start the weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: An area of light rain has developed in our southern counties. This band will lift northward through the early afternoon and dot parts of Mid-Missouri with a shower or two through the early evening hours. High temperatures will reach the low 40s with an east breeze up to 10 mph.

TONIGHT: Spotty rain showers will continue overnight, becoming more numerous through Saturday morning. Thunder is possible as well. Expect lows to stay above average, in the mid 30s.

EXTENDED: On going rain continues through the first half of the weekend. We could hear a few rumbles of thunder with these showers on Saturday morning and through the day. Rain will be widespread, but most intensity will be light. Temperatures for the first part of the weekend will warm into the middle 50s with breezy southwesterly winds. The warm-up doesn’t last long as a strong cold front moves through Saturday night. We could see showers briefly change over to light snow as cold air rushes back in, more likely north of I-70. Sunday looks windy and cooler with highs in the low 40s. That seasonal weather sticks around for the beginning of the work week on Monday and Tuesday.
