Mild but unsettled as we head into the weekend
TONIGHT: Clouds will remain in place south of I-70 but will break up briefly north. Low temperatures will range from the upper 20s north of I-70 to the lower 30s in the Ozarks. Light showers will move in from the south to near I-44 after 5 AM. Temperatures will be near freezing as the rain moves into that area but will slowly climb above freezing. A brief period of freezing rain is possible near I-44 through 7 AM.
FRIDAY: Showers will move north through the morning hours and become very spotty through the day. High temperatures wil reach the low to mid 40s with an east breeze up to 10 mph.
EXTENDED: More widespread rain showers will move in overnight Friday into Saturday morning. We could hear a few rumbles of thunder with these showers on Saturday morning and through the day. Rain will be widespread, but most intensity will be light. Temperatures for the first part of the weekend will warm into the middle 50s with breezy southwesterly winds. The warm-up doesn’t last long as a strong cold front moves through Saturday night. We could see showers briefly change over to light snow as cold air rushes back in, more likely north of I-70. Sunday looks windy and cooler with highs in the low 40s. That seasonal weather sticks around for the beginning of the work week on Monday and Tuesday.
