Warming trend to take hold the next couple days
TONIGHT: Quiet weather is starting to move in the viewing area tonight. We will see mostly cloudy skies as temperatures fall back into the mid to upper 20s. With temperatures dipping back below freezing, be mindful of your steps tomorrow morning as sidewalks and parking lots could see some patchy slick spots lingering.
THURSDAY: Temperatures will warm a bit more heading into Thursday, with afternoon highs topping out in the mid to upper 40s. As high pressure continues to slide off to our east, winds will be fairly calm throughout the afternoon out of the southeast.
EXTENDED: Tranquil weather sticks around for most of Friday as temperatures will again be seasonal, reaching the mid to upper 40s. Showers will be moving in overnight heading into Saturday morning as the latest storm system makes its way toward Mid-Missouri. We could hear a few rumbles of thunder with these showers on Saturday morning and afternoon. Temperatures for the first part of the weekend will warm into the middle 50s by the afternoon with breezy southwesterly winds. The warm-up doesn’t last long as a strong cold front moves through Saturday night. We could see showers briefly change over to light snow as cold air rushes back in. Sunday looks breezy and cooler with highs in the low 40s. That seasonal weather sticks around for the beginning of the work week on Monday and Tuesday.
