Mid-Missouri roads are slick for Wednesday morning commute

The winter weather that moved in the area overnight on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning caused roadways to become slippery for the morning commute.

According to the MoDOT traveler’s map, some roads in mid-Missouri are at least partially covered as the covered line creeps south.

As a result of the weather and slick road conditions, several schools and events are canceled or delayed. A full list of ABC 17 closings can be found here.

Columbia Public Schools and Centralia Public Schools announced school would not be in session on Wednesday. Jefferson City Public Schools announced it will have a two-hour late start Wednesday morning.

Colleges and universities in the area are having a delayed start. The University of Missouri and Moberly Area Community College campuses will open at 10 a.m.

Due to predicted snow, sleet and ice creating slick surfaces on sidewalks and roads, University of Missouri officials have announced a 10 a.m. delayed start for Wednesday, Feb. 20. Normal operations will be suspended between 12:01 a.m. and 9:59 a.m., and will resume at 10 a.m.
