Fight ensues after Cole County Facebook argument

A Stover man was charged with assault after he got into a physical fight that stemmed from an argument on Facebook messenger.

Carl D. Marshall got into a conversation with the victim on Oct. 30 via Facebook messenger, court documents said. “I’ll see you tomorrow boy,” Marshall wrote in a message. He then told the victim he’d be at his house in 30 minutes.

Marshall then drove to the victim’s home, and when he got there, the victim came outside, and the two got into a physical fight. Marshall allegedly punched the victim and threw him off of the porch.

Police said the victim had lacerations to the face and nose.

Marshall was charged with third-degree assault.
