Columbia Public Works to focus on priority routes overnight

Road crews will be focusing on priority routes overnight, according to the city of Columbia.

The city is preparing for snow and freezing rain. Columbia Public Works said crews have pre-treated priority routes, but slick conditions could still occur.

A crew was in place Tuesday through 7 p.m., the city said. At that time a 25-person overnight crew arrived to focus on priority routes.

Boone County crews brought in the night shift around 7 p.m. and will have another crew replace them at 7 a.m.

Hard surface roads in the county have pre-treatment on them.

“We’re out there until all the roads are safe,” said Boone County’s Greg Edington.
