Crews monitor road conditions ahead of snow

Columbia Public Works crews loaded and prepared trucks Thursday night ahead of snowfall Friday, the department wrote on Facebook.

“We”ll report at our normal business hours,” said Public Works spokesman Barry Dalton. “We’ll start pretreating all of the bridge decks, curves, intersections and inclines on the priority routes.”

The Missouri Department of Transportation urged drivers to avoid unnecessary travel Friday as conditions worsen throughout the late morning.

Missouri Highway Patrol wrote on Twitter asking drivers to slow down, increase following distances and buckle-up ahead of the storm.
