After a brief mid-week warming, snow returns Friday

TONIGHT: With clear skies in place for tonight, temperatures drop into the low to mid 20s. The northwest wind will gradually diminish to 5 mph by morning but we will still see wind chills into the low to mid teens by morning.

WEDNESDAY: Winds will shift to the south early giving us a nice break from the winter weather as we climb into the lower 50s during the afternoon under partly cloudy skies. South winds will stay under 12 mph.

EXTENDED: We’ll drop into the mid to upper 30s Wednesday night, staying above freezing for a change. The mild weather continues Thursday with highs in the low to mid 50s with a spot shower chance in the afternoon and early evening as a cold front moves through. It will be a bit breezy ahead of this front with southerly winds gusting up to 25 mph at times. Another wave of low pressure moves in Friday, dropping temperatures into the 20s by afternoon and bringing a chance of light snow. At this time it looks like snow will increase through late afternoon and continue into the evening Friday with light accumulation which could cause slick roads. The main precipitation type looks like snow but it’s possible some freezing rain could mix in closer to I-44. The snow tapers off after midnight, leaving us with drier weather Saturday. After a dry but cold day Saturday, another chance of light snow moves in Satuday night into Sunday as the unsettled weather pattern continues with below average temperatures. Light accumulation is also possible by Sunday morning as temperatures stay below freezing. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
