Mid-Missouri preparing for slick roads overnight
Several towns and counties in mid-Missouri are preparing for possible freezing on roads this evening as another round of precipitation is expected overnight.
Columbia Public Works is mulling having crews come in overnight in case the temperature drops lower than forecasts show. Rain is expected to move in overnight and might change over to snow before ending Tuesday morning. Temperatures overnight are expected to bottom out around the freezing mark, meaning a slight change could determine whether roads are slick with ice or just wet.
Likely overnight rain and chance of light snow later tonight continuing into early Tuesday morning is in the forecast. Stay tuned to your favorite local weather reports. More details on City operations later this afternoon.https://t.co/5oYbOwvAkI pic.twitter.com/tbJuFbaoWQ

Cole County Road and Bridge is also prepared for slick roads.
Director Larry Benz said his department is running operations like normal on Monday unless the weather takes a turn for the worse.
Benz said Cole County still has material on the roads from Sunday to help fight ice. But if the rain washes it away, he said they will be prepared to put more down.
Ice caused the University of Missouri to close the top floors of its parking garages Monday, as well.
Due to icy conditions, the top floors of all structures will be closed today. Top floor permit holders can park on the level directly below. Structure permit holders can call 573-882-4568 if your structure becomes full. Drive safe, Tigers! pic.twitter.com/fbqgUhnfkw

Some roads remained slick from weekend rain in Boone and other mid-Missouri counties leading to a few school closings or delays Monday and a Hallsville bus getting stuck on an icy hill.
