Mid-Missouri crews on standby to treat roads

Public Works staff are watching the forecasts closely with another round of winter weather expected Sunday evening and Monday.

Crews are on-call to treat Cole County roads if precipation starts earlier than expected. Cole County Public Works spokesperson Larry Benz said on Sunday evening that paved roads are clear, but there is ice on gravel roads.

Jefferson City spokesperson Britt Smith said he’s “cautiously optimistic” the forecasted temperatures will stay above freezing. He said crews are on standby if temperatures do drop.

In Boone County, Greg Edington said crews are watching the weather conditions and staff can be called in quickly if needed. He said the salt already out on the roads will help prevent ice from forming.
