Winter Weather Advisory from midnight tonight until tomorrow afternoon
***ALL OF MID-MISSOURI IS UNDER A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY STARTING AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT UNTIL 12 PM SUNDAY***
TONIGHT: Clouds will increase ahead of our next approaching system in Mid-Missouri. As moisture moves in from the south & west, light freezing rain is possible south of I-70 after midnight tonight. The moisture will lift north towards the I-70 corridor by 5 AM. North of I-70, freezing rain will make the changeover to snow with colder air in place to the north. Temperatures will fall into the mid 20s through morning. Accumulation is possible through the night, however most areas will only see minor amounts thanks to the quick moving nature of the system.
SUNDAY: With ongoing snow early Sunday morning north of I-70, there could be some impacts through the first half of the day. Snow will push to the northeast through the morning, making its final exit near 10 AM. Accumulation, on average, will be 1-3″ in our northern counties. Highest amounts will be near HWY-24. Travel in the morning could become hazardous with road temperatures near freezing. Temperatures will climb back into the mid 30s through the afternoon with mostly cloudy skies and dry conditions.
EXTENDED: A break in the activity won’t be long-lived, as another system moves in Sunday night into Monday. The second wave looks like mostly rain for Mid-Missouri as moisture lifts from the north to the south. If temperatures do not warm up as much as advertised, we could be dealing with a wintry mix in parts for the Monday morning commute. The best chance for the mix will be north near the I-44 corridor. As temperatures warm into the upper 30s Monday consistent light rain will continue through the day. As this system moves east Tuesday morning some morning snow showers can be expected north of I-70. Clouds break up through Tuesday as high temperatures rise into the upper 30s. We see a break in the active weather Wednesday, with temperatures back above average, before another system moves in Thursday.
