Columbia College names Bob Burchard’s replacement

Columbia College named assistant coach Tomas Brock as Bob Burchard’s replacement for the men’s basketball coaching position following the 2018-19 season.

Brock is in his fourth season with the Cougars. Columbia College went 95-29 and made three trips to the NAIA National Championships during his tenure.

“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to become the next head basketball coach at Columbia College,” Brock said. “I’m grateful to Bob Burchard for giving me the chance to join this storied athletic program four years ago, and I will take pride in continuing the strong tradition he’s established here. I’m also very thankful to Dr. Scott Dalrymple and (interim Athletic Director) Cindy Potter for their vote of confidence in promoting me. The community of Columbia College is very special to my wife, Abby, and I, and I am thrilled to continue serving its student-athletes.

Athletic director and current men’s basketball coach Bob Burchard announced in January he planned to retire after the season.

Burchard began at Columbia College in 1988. Since then, he’s led the Cougars to a 781-261 record in 31 years with the Cougars. He is No. 1 in wins among active NAIA men’s coaches and No. 33 all-time among all college basketball coaches.
