Man arrested, suspected of stealing Bird scooters on MU campus

A Columbia man was arrested after police suspected him of stealing 40 Bird scooters from a storage facility on the University of Misouri campus.

ABC 17 News previously reported the scooters were being impounded by MU landscaping employees because they were parked illegally..

Anthony F. Hamilton, 32, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, stealing, first-degree trespassing and property damage.

The theft happened while students were gone for winter break, the University of Missouri Police Department said in a press release. Employees did not realize the scooters were gone until they returned from break.
