One dead in head-on crash near New Franklin

One person died, and one person was seriously hurt after a head-on crash in Howard County Monday night.

A Pontiac Sunfire was traveling on MO 5 north of New Franklin at 10:49 p.m. when it tried to pass another vehicle. In the process, the Pontiac ran into the path of a Chevy Monte Carlo and collided with the vehicle head-on, according to the crash report.

The driver of the Pontiac, Joshua W. Brice, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevy, Clay S. Walker, 24, was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries from the crash.
