Audrain County sex offender accused of lying on registration

Audrain County sheriff’s deputies arrested a sex offender on accusations that he lied on his registration and on a warrant for domestic assault.

The sheriff’s office found evidence that Douglas Jennings, 59, of Mexico, had used a bogus address on his previous sex offender registration, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Investigators received a tip that Jennings was living in the 1400 Block of North Olive in Mexico.

Jennings was arrested Thursday. He was booked into the Callaway County Jail on the domestic assault warrant on a $5,000 cash bond.

Additional charges of failure to register as a sex offender and forgery are also being sought.
