Rock Bridge HS principal promoted to CPS central office

The Rock Bridge High School principal has been promoted to the Columbia Public Schools central office.

Jennifer Rukstad will become the assistant superintendent for secondary education July 1, CPS said in a news release. She will replace Kevin Brown, who left the district in October to work in the Chicago area.

Rukstad has been Rock Bridge High School principal since 2013 and has more than 20 years of experience in education, CPS said in the release announcing her promotion. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Missouri and an educational specialist degree in mathematics curriculum leadership.

“We are pleased and excited to have Dr. Rukstad join our district leadership team,” CPS Superintendent Peter Stiepleman said in a written statement. “Not only is she a product of Columbia Public Schools, but she has also spent more than two decades working in our school district. This combination of experience is an asset to district leadership and our community.”
