Man surrenders after Columbia SWAT response
The SWAT team was called to assist the Columbia Police Department when a wanted man police said is known to be armed refused to surrender at a residence on Longwell Drive.
Anthony Maurice Malin had active U.S. extradition felony warrants for delivery of a controlled substance and aggravated domestic assault.
CPD spokesman Jeff Pitts said Malin surrendered peacefully and was detained after nearly 50 minutes of negotiations.
Two other adults, a man and a woman, were inside the residence.
“They’re currently not under arrest however they are being detained due to waiting on the search warrant,” Pitts said.
CPD was working late Wednesday afternoon to obtain a search warrant to check for any drugs possibly inside the property.
