Former prosecutor loses law license

The former Moniteau County prosecuting attorney has lost indefinitely his license to practice law.

The Missouri Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Shayne Healea violated rules of professional conduct after he pleaded guilty to four misdemeanors related to his crash into a downtown Columbia restaurant.

Healea pleaded guilty in September to four misdemeanor charges in Shelby County, where his case was being heard on a change of venue. Healea was charged in October 2014 after he backed his truck into a glass block wall at Addison’s restaurant, injuring four people, and left the scene. In public statements after his arrest Healea admitted to the crash but said he wasn’t drunk and was not aware of the crash when he drove away.

Healea was put on probation for two years and the court stipulated that he could not serve as a prosecutor during that time. He resigned his seat after the guilty plea.

Healea can reapply for his law license in six months.
