Cold weather impacts Columbia Wednesday morning

Mid-Missouri and most of the midwest experienced dangerously cold air Wednesday morning.

The temperature in Columbia was 1 below zero at 5 a.m., with 19 mile per hour winds, making the wind chill 23 below zero.

Multiple schools, including Columbia Public Schools and Jefferson City Schools closed Wednesday. A list of all cancellations can be found here.

Four Columbia Regional Airport flights to and from Chicago were canceled Wednesday morning as well. Flight statuses can be found here.

A wind chill warning is in effect until 3 p.m. Wednesday, and a winter weather advisory is in effect until Thursday morning, according to Boone County Joint Communications.
