Power restored for nearly 300 residents in south Columbia

UPDATE: According to Columbia Water and Light’s outage map power has been restored for customers.

ORIGINAL: More than 200 Columbia Water and Light customers were without power Tuesday morning in Columbia.

A vehicle hit the switch gear early Tuesday morning at the intersection of Gray Oak Drive and Green Meadows which caused the outage, a Water and Light spokeswoman said.

Water and Light was notified of the outage at about 4:15 a.m. as frigid temperatures hit mid-Missouri.

Crews were assigned to the outage to replace the switch gear. Power is expected to be restored within a few hours, the spokeswoman said.
