Fulton man arrested in burglary, assault

A Fulton man was arrested Tuesday after he was accused of forcing his way into a home, assaulting another person and pouring gasoline throughout the residence and on a family pet.

Robert L. Pittman Jr., 32, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and booked into the Callaway County Jail without bond. The Fulton Police Department had said earlier Tuesday that it was still searching for Pittman after a Sunday break-in.

The victim told police that Pittman forced his way into the home on Vine Street in Fulton. Pittman assaulted the victim and poured gasoline throughout the home and on a family pet, the Fulton Police Department said in a press release. Children were in the home at the time and witnessed the event, police said.

Pittman was arrested on suspicion of bulrglary, domestic assault, child endangerment, attempted arson, animal abuse and armed criminal action. Information about charges was not available in online court records late Tuesday.

Anyone with information on Pittman’s whereabouts is asked to call the Fulton Police Department at 573-592-3100 or Crimestoppers at 573-592-2474 to remain anonymous.
