Families affected by Holts Summit fire find housing
More than 30 families affected by an apartment building fire in Holts Summit have found temporary or permanent housing.
The fire destroyed the 30-unit complex Monday at 10945 Evergreen Drive in Holts Summit.
The American Red Cross opened a shelter that day at the Union Baptist Church and took in families affected. The shelter will close Friday after the evening meal.
“Shelter staff have been working with local organizations to provide connections to assist the residents for longer term needs as they recover,” the organization said in a press release.
Twenty people stayed at the shelter Monday through Wednesday and 14 stayed Thursday.
