Closure, snow routes set for some schools Thursday

Some mid-Missouri school districts are calling off Thursday classes or altering bus routes for the fourth consecutive day as travel problems persist in some areas following a massive weekend snow storm.

North Callaway R-I had called off Thursday classes by late afternoon Wednesday. Districts in Centralia, Fulton, Jefferson City, Moberly and Mexico had decided to run altered bus routes Thursday.

More snow is expected to fall on mid-Missouri this weekend followed by bitter cold. Some parts of the area might wake up to slick roads Thursday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday for the region’s northern counties, saying snow, sleet and freezin rain are possible overnight.
