Bitterly cold Monday morning, rain Tuesday
TONIGHT: The clouds will stick around, breaking up slightly as low temperatures drop to 10 to 15 degrees. Winds will come in from the east up to 10 mph by morning, dropping wind chills to near zero. There is a total lunar eclipse from 10:41 PM to 11:43 PM with totality at 11:12 PM. If you’re lucky enough to catch it between clouds you’ll see it turn a reddish color as Earth blocks most of the light from the sun which normally reaches the moon.
MONDAY: Expect a windy and cold day with only partial sunshine. Temperatures will stay in the low to mid 30s with southeast winds at 20 mph gusting to near 30 mph at times. The wind will produce wind chills in the teens to low 20s in the afternoon.
EXTENDED: A warm front lifts across the area Tuesday with breezy southerly winds at 12-20 mph bringing temperatures up into the lower 40s. Drizzle is possible early Tuesday, increasing to rain showers in the afternoon. A cold front moves through in the evening and precipitation will decrease. However, we could see a brief changeover to snow Tuesday evening but it does not look like it will last long as moisture moves out quickly. Cold air moves in and we ‘ll be back below freezing Wednesday with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s. We’ll warm into the low to mid 30s Thursday but another surge of cold air moves in Thursday afternoon with a chance of light snow, dropping temperatures into the single digits Thursday night. Another cold front is showing up for Saturday morning and could bring another quick shot of snow and more arctic air for next weekend. Stick with ABC 17 on-air and online for the newest information.
