Fog again tonight, winter storm Fri night- Saturday
TONIGHT: Cloudy skies remain tonight with temperatures back into the upper 20s with freezing fog possible once again as winds remain light.
FRIDAY: High temperatures will reach the upper 30s under cloudy skies a wInds increase from the east at 15-20 mph, giving us wind chills in the low to mid 20s. Light rain will move in from the west after 3 PM and increase into the evening. Areas near HWY 36 will see sleet and snow as the precipitation moves in.
EXTENDED: Rain will continue Friday night, transitioning to all snow from northwest to southeast into Saturday morning. Areas farther south will have rain for much of the night Friday before it turns to snow. Snowfall amounts look higher north of I-70 and lower as you head south. There is the potential of 5-7 inches of snow north of HWY 24 with 2-5″ south. As arctic air moves in Saturday, northerly winds will increase to near 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph causing reduced visibility in blowing and drifting snow. Temperatures will drop into the teens Saturday evening and to 5-10 degrees by Sunday morning with wind chills as low as 10 below zero. High temperatures Sunday only reach near 20 with mostly sunny skies and diminishing northerly winds. We’ll warm back into the 30s Monday under partly cloudy skies. The next storm system is expected to move in Tuesday with rain changing to snow and gusty northerly winds.
