The Monday morning commute will bring possible chances of re-freeze.

The Missouri Department of Transportation stopped its full plowing operations Sunday evening with all major snow routes clear.

Highway Patrol urged drivers to remove snow from the tops of vehicles before driving.

Crews continued watching for refreeze, plowing bridges and cleaning up snow in intersections throughout the night, said MODOT Maintenance Specialist Bobby Slater.

“We have crews out there watching and working around the clock until we get it done,” Slater said.

He said MODOT is beginning to clear secondary routes and use bigger equipment in north Boone and Callaway counties that have nearly twenty inches of snow.

Columbia Public Works is working around the clock until all streets are passable by a front-wheel drive vehicle.

Crews focused on downtown and residential areas on Sunday, a map shows plow progress on Columbia’s residential roads and where crews are currently working.
