Several college campuses closed Monday due to snow
Several college campuses in mid-Missouri will remain closed Monday due to the winter storm.
UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI
The University of Missouri Columbia campus and the University System will be closed, according to an MU alert.
According to the alert, classes are canceled and the winter welcome event will be postponed. MU Health Care hospitals will remain open, and the veterinary medical hospital will be open for emergencies.
UM System spokesman Christian Basi said the university had approximately 75 employees working specifically on clearing the roads and sidewalks.
“That doesn’t include private contractors that helped, nor does it include the employees working in residential life, campus dining or the recreation complex,” Basi said.

In a tweet, MU Health Care said the Mizzou Pharmacy located at the MU Student Center will also be closed Monday due to the campus closure. However, other locations will be open as normal.

STEPHENS COLLEGE
Stephens College also canceled classes on Monday. According to a post on the school’s website, the facilities crew has been working to clear the area and security teams are also on campus.
Stephens College is urging students moving back to campus after winter break to travel carefully. The residence halls are scheduled to reopen at noon, however all classes are canceled.
As of Sunday night, classes are scheduled to resume Tuesday morning.
COLUMBIA COLLEGE
Columbia College said its main campus in Columbia will remain closed on Monday due to the weather. However, the school had not made decisions regarding its other campuses.
The closure includes evening classes on Monday.

Moberly Area Community College also announced all of its locations will be closed Monday. Central Methodist University will close its main campus in Fayette, as well as its Columbia campuses. Westminster and William Woods University in Fulton will also be closed.
