Continued light snow and freezing drizzle into Sunday afternoon

TODAY: Light snow showers continue to fall this morning across Mid-Missouri, with pockets of freezing drizzle not out of the question. Any snow will amount to less than half an inch, with a glaze of freezing drizzle. Any wintry chances decrease significantly after noon, with temperatures holding steady in the upper 20s and lower 30s through today. Winds out of the north up to 14 mph will make it feel colder, as wind chills values remain in the upper 10s and lower 20s.

Tonight: A few flurries can’t be ruled out this evening, but overall expect dry conditions and the potential for slick spots to develop. Cloudy skies stay with us, with overnight lows dipping into the lower 20s. By the morning hours Monday, we could see many locations with wind chills near 15 degrees. Remember to be cautious on roadways, especially those left untreated. Refreezing will occur through the night on many of those roads.

Extended: Precipitation chances aren’t nil as we head through the middle of the week. While the upper level disturbance responsible for the historic storm will be long gone, moisture will still stick around. This will lead to minor chances for some flurries and freezing drizzle Monday through Wednesday. Any freezing drizzle we see will bring minor impacts, as only a glaze is expected on top of an already snow packed region. Temperatures will be slow to rebound this week, with highs struggling to climb into the 40s as early as Tuesday. A cold front arrives Wednesday and we’ll drop down into the lower 40s to close out the week. Again any remaining moisture could fall to the ground as light snow, as the front tracks through the region. By next weekend, we’re tracking a powerful arctic cold front that could potential team up with a round of moisture. We’ll continue to update the forecast of what could be our next winter system by next weekend. Stick with abc 17 on-air and online for the latest details
