Historic Snowfall blankets Mid-Missouri — Snow tapers off tonight
TONIGHT: Light snow showers and freezing drizzle will continue through the overnight hours. Temperatures will slowly drop into the upper 20s this evening and that will create for treacherous road conditions with many spots still very slushy from the wet nature of this snow. That will create many icy spots, especially on side roads through the morning hours. Because of that, the Weather Alert Day will extend until the late morning hours Sunday.
SUNDAY: We’ll start the morning off fairly cold with temperatures in the low 30s… That doesn’t budge all that much. North winds will continue to feed in cold air for much of the day, with winds slowing down through the afternoon hours. For the most part, roads should greatly improve by the afternoon hours with temperatures near or above freezing allowing for steady melting of snow. Clouds stick around for much of the day.
EXTENDED: Snow will continue melting this week! Upper 30s can be expected and another round of above average temperatures arrive for Tuesday. This storm will feel like a distant dream by then as we approach 50* Tuesday afternoon. A cold front arrives Wednesday and we’ll drop down into the lower 40s to close out the week. By next weekend, we’re tracking a powerful arctic cold front that could potential team up with a round of moisture.
