State troopers prepare for winter storm

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is having more troopers on duty and on standby amid Friday’s winter storm.

“Winter weather isn’t anything we haven’t seen before,” said Sergeant Scott White with MSHP. “We have had plenty of lead time, plenty of warning and we are prepared for it.”

He said the majority of Troop F’s patrol vehicles have all-wheel drive, a major advantage compared to several years ago.

“We encourage people to slow down and increase those following distances,” White said. “Make sure you give yourself time to react to an emergency.”

Missouri Highway Patrol recommends keeping your cell phone fully charged, fuel tank at least half full and packing ice scrapers and warm clothing in your vehicle.
