Lake Ozark man dead after pedestrian crash on Highway 63

The Columbia Police Department was investigating a fatal crash on Tuesday morning after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

Officers confirmed 44-year-old Jason L. Harvey of Lake Ozark died due to the crash. The driver of the vehicle, Samuel T Holer, 65, of Moberly said Harvey was standing in the middle of the road in dark clothing. Holer was unable to avoid hitting Harvey as he came around a curve, police said in a statement. Harvey was taken from the scene by an ambulance and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Holer suffered minor injuries due to the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, but officers on scene said there is no indication the driver was intoxicated. No foul play was suspected, said CPD spokesman Jeff Pitts.

Boone County first responders closed a portion of Highway 63 southbound near Prathersville to investigate the single-vehicle crash.
