Mizzou women’s basketball wins in Porter’s return

Cierra Porter is 1-0 back in a Mizzou uniform after the Tigers defeated Arkansas State, 70-50.

The win improves Mizzou’ record to 11-3 to end non-conference action.

Former Rock Bridge Bruin Cierra Porter made her first appearance after returning to the team this weekend. Porter came out of retirement Saturday after previously retiring due to knee issues.

Porter scored four points and added two rebounds in limited minutes as the Tigers work her back into the lineup. However, those four points give her 1,000 points for her entire college career.

Another former Bruin, Sophie Cunningham, led the way with 20 points. She shot 16-18 from the field. Amber Smith added nine points and 10 rebounds as well for the Tigers.

Mizzou turns its attention next to SEC action. The Tigers begin conference play Jan. 3 at home against Ole Miss.
