CenturyLink service outage continues

CenturyLink customers around the country were affected by service outages Thursday.

Media outlets across the nation reported on the outages. CenturyLink has been quiet about the cause and extent of those outages, simply saying in a tweet that its network “is experiencing a disruption affecting customer services.”

The CenturyLink network is still experiencing a disruption affecting customer services. The CenturyLink technical teams will continue to work around the clock until services are restored.

The company said the disruption was still happening at about 4:30 p.m. central time, but has not specified which services were disrupted.

The outage was affecting at least one emergency service agency in central Missouri — dispatchers in Benton County said they could not make or receive long distance calls in their emergency communications center.

The website downdetector, which tracks internet service outages, showed Columbia and other Missouri cities being affected on its outage map.
