Semi crashes, catches fire Missouri River Bridge

UPDATE 12/15: Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reports said a semi-truck ran off the right side of I-70 and crashed near mile marker 112, which caused traffic to back up for at least an hour Friday.

The crash report said the truck hit a guardrail, went down a steep embankment and caught fire around 4 p.m.

Troopers said another car crashed after it hit debris from the semi crash.

The driver of the semi was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

ORIGINAL: A two-vehicle crash caused backups at the Missouri River Bridge on Interstate 70 on Friday.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, delays could be expected until after 5 p.m. on Friday.

The crash happened on westbound I-70 WB past exit 111. The right lane of the interstate was closed for a period of time.

Highway Patrol officers said it was an injury crash but were uncertain of the extent of the injuries.
