Lincoln University mourns loss of third student this semester
The Lincoln University community will hold a vigil Wednesday evening to mourn the loss of D’Angelo Bratton-Bland, 23, of Jefferson City.
Bratton-Bland died in a hospital late Tuesday from gunshot wounds, according to the Jefferson City Police Department. He was the president of the Student Government Association. The vigil will be in the Scruggs University Center ballroom at 7:30 p.m.
“We are saddened by this unfortunate tragedy within the Lincoln University family,” University officials said in a Facebook post Wednesday.
This is the third Lincoln University student death this semester.
In August, Charon Session, 23, a junior, was shot and killed by a fellow student Alfred Chism. Chism told police he pulled the trigger in self-defense.
Ariel Perkins, 21, died in a car crash on I-70 near Kingdom City in September.
Grief counseling is available to students at the Thompkins Health Center, Women’s Resource Center and Scruggs University Center, according to a LU statement.
