Black and Gold Bar shooter sentenced to 7 years
The man who pleaded guilty to shooting one person at the Black and Gold Bar parking lot in April was sentenced to seven years in prison on Monday.
Miles Hillegas, 21, of Columbia was a student at the University of Missouri at the time of the shooting.
According to court documents, the victim went outside of Black and Gold Bar to tell two people to leave the property. Hillegas armed himself with a sledge hammer and started swinging at the victim.
Hillegas then got in his car and tried to run the victim over. The victim started walking toward the business to go inside, and looked back toward Hillegas’ vehicle. Hillegas fired a gun at the victim and shot him in the upper right thigh.
He was later arrested in Ward County, Texas.
Hillegas will serve seven years for second-degree assault and four years for unlawful use of a weapon concurrently.
