Lots of sun to start out the week, Tracking the much needed warming trend!

THIS AFTERNOON: After a frosty start this morning, temperatures have rebounded nicely. We’re near the freezing mark at 11am, under full sunshine. While it is cold, it certainly feels nicer outside than what we were stuck with over the weekend. We top out near 40 this afternoon, before dropping off into the 20s after sunset. Winds are steady out of the west at up to 8 mph.

TONIGHT: Temperatures remain in the mid 20s through the night under mostly clear skies. It’s still cold by morning, but this is a touch warmer than what we have been at for the past couple of nights. Winds that shift out of the southwest through the night will make it feel like the mid teens by morning.

EXTENDED: The warming trend looks to continue. Expect highs touching 50 degrees by Tuesday with plenty of sunshine. This will be the nicest day of the next 7– make sure to enjoy it. Temperatures Wednesday will be just shy of 50 under partly sunny skies, with slight rain chances by the evening. By Thursday and Friday the active weather pattern may continue, but latest weather data still shows differences in rain chances. The best chance to see light rain showers looks to increase by Thursday afternoon, with areas south having the best opportunity to see the light rainfall. If these showers persist overnight Thursday we may see some changeover to snow on the backend of this system. However, snow is looking like less and less of an issue as we get closer. Even with rain chances, temperatures into the second half of this week remain a hare above average in the mid 40s with low temperatures in the 30s. Of course there will be some changes, so stay with ABC 17 News as we continue to fine tune our tracks and forecasts.
