Camden County deputy recovering after serious crash

A Camden County deputy is recovering after a car collision sent his car careening off the road on Route MM near Villages Way at about 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Highway Patrol troopers said Casey Marks, 28, was on an emergency run when another vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Danielle Borrett, started to make a left turn from the right shoulder as he was passing.

Marks hit Borrett while he as attempting to avoid a collision. He went off the left side of the road, overturning in the process.

Borrett got minor injuries and Marks was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries. MU Health staff reported his condition is now listed as fair Saturday afternoon.

They were both wearing seatbelts.
